2018 First Quarter Favorites!

Today’s blog post is going to be a rundown of all my current favorites from the first quarter of the year. In this series that will happen each quarter, I’ll wrap up the things I’ve been loving as well as some books, TV shows and music I’m into. But if you’re interested in the more day-to-day things, I would highly suggest following me on Facebook and Instagram because that’s where I share everything! So let’s get started!

It’s probably no surprise that I’ll be first talking about planners. The first three months of the year are crucial because this is when I start a new planner and this year I went with a ringbound system. If you want to know more in detail about what systems I’m using, I did a whole blog post that you can check out here.

But I am happy to announce that the system is working for me! My Kikki K a5 is working wonderfully as my main writing planner and I’ve also been enjoying my personal planners (both the Kikki K and Kate Spade) too! I love how functional everything is and I especially love that I can remove the inserts at the end of the month for fresh ones. It feels like a great new start every month.

Next up I want to talk briefly about makeup. I’ve been really into coral tones lately, which is very strange to me because I never used to enjoy that shade on me. But I found two liquid lipsticks that I think are very flattering. The first one I fell in love with is from Armani and it’s one of their Lip Magnets. I have the color 300. It looks super bright in the packaging but it’s very subtle on the lips. Since I enjoyed that one so much, I also picked up a similar shade from YSL’s Tatouage Couture line. The shade is number 22 and it’s a brighter version of the Armani one. Both are great shades for the upcoming warmer weather even though I have been technically wearing it all throughout winter LOL

If you follow me on Instagram then you know that I’m a big Kpop fan. My bias group is hands down Got7. They made a new comeback in March with Eyes On You. However, I have also fallen in love with a girl group called EXID. Major girl crushing here! I just adore their sound and style and I am in love with their comeback concept this time as well. I would highly give both groups a listen if you aren’t familiar with them.

I’ve written another blog post about other Kpop groups, BIG BANG and BTS before so check it out here if you are interested in how music influences my writing.

And lastly, I want to quickly recap the books that have made it into my favorites of the year so far. The first is SHOT IN THE DARK by Cleo Coyle. This is the latest installment in the Coffeehouse Mysteries and it’s super epic. I loved this book! BLOOD FURY by J.R. Ward was obviously going to make this list. She’s one of my favorite authors and I enjoyed the advancement in this series as well as the romance. HIGH VOLTAGE is another book by one of my all-time faves. Karen Marie Moning absolutely killed this release! I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next! And lastly, I read and fell in love with HEXBOUND by Bec McMaster. Actually, I’ve been really into her books lately, going back to read her entire backlist. Soon I’ll be able to say that I have read every single one of her books.

So that’s it, guys! Those are all my favorites for the first quarter of 2017! I’ve been working hard on writing more books for you in the Moonrise Beach and you can expect the next release, SWEET AS SIN, to be out next month so keep an eye out for it and give it lots of love!
